The need for personal deliverance.

The need for personal deliverance is very obvious in the 9th Chapter of the Gospel of Luke.

Luke 9:1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of G-d, and to heal the sick. 3 And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. 4. And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart. 5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them. 6 And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

( After which Luke continues with how Jesus fed about 5000 men with five loaves and two fish, "And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets." Then a few days later Jesus took Peter, James and John up into a mountain to pray and there they witnessed Jesus transfiguration. The account of the transfiguration of Jesus Christ is also recorded in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark (as a demonstration to three witnesses that Jesus Christ was who He claimed to be. In all three Gospel accounts of the transfiguration of Jesus, we are given the names of the same three disciples who accompanied Jesus and who stood as human witnesses to the glory that was His. There were also three heavenly witnesses, Moses, Elijah, and the voice of G-d from heaven. Therefore, the Old Testament law of three witnesses required to attest to any fact (Deuteronomy 19:15) was satisfied both in earth and in heaven.)

Luke 9:37 And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him. 38 And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child.39 And, lo, a (single) spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it (single) teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him. 40 And I besought (all) thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not. 41 And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither. 42 And as he was yet a coming, the (single) devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the (single) unclean spirit, and healed the child (see Luke 9:1), and delivered him again to his father.

(In Matthew 17:19-21 we read: "Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him (single spirit) out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. Note: Jesus did not need to fast and pray before He delivered the child - Jesus had already done this in the wilderness! In Mark 3:23 we read: "And he (Jesus) called them [unto him], and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?" Jesus' twelve "holy" disciples needed to fast and pray for their own personal deliverence - see below.)

43 And they were all amazed at the mighty power of G-d. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples, 44 Let these sayings sink down into your ears (a spirit of deafness): for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men. 45 But they understood (a spirit of misunderstanding) not this saying, and it was hid (the god of this world blinds the minds) from them, that they perceived (a spirit of confusion) it not: and they feared (a spirit of fear) to ask him of that saying. 46 Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest ( a spirit of pride). 47 And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him, 48 And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great. 49 And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us ( a spirit of division - denominations). 50 And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us. 51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, 52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him. 53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did (spirits of hate, prejudice, anger and destruction)? 55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit (how possessed) ye are of. 56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

To be "possessed" does not mean to be "owned". in James 4:7 we read: "Submit yourselves therefore to G-d. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." A James 3:10 we read: "Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be." What do these two verses and possession have in common? This is very simple, you are having an incredible, angry argument with a loved one and the phone rings - immediately you calm down and answer with a pleasant voice (no longer angry) "hello" - you have resisted that demon of anger and it fled from you. For anyone to teach that a Christian can not be possessed (exercised by) any demon is totally ridiculous!

Pray and fast dear one, you need to be exercised only by G-d not the devil. The "devil" is simply "lived" in reverse and "evil" is simply "live" in reverse. Dear one, have you lived your life your way or G-d's?
Ephesians 4:27 - and do not give the devil a foothold. Ephesians 6:11 - Put on the full armor of G-d so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. Ephesians 6:13 - Therefore put on the full armor of G-d, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 1 Peter 5:6 - Humble yourselves, therefore, under G-d's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. 1 Peter 5:8-9 - Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. In James 5:16 we read: "Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

In the Lord's Prayer we ask for all of us to be delivered from evil and self - there is no I, me or my in the Lord's Prayer.

The denominational church today is filled with judgement and hate - Irish protestants are killing Irish Catholics and vice versa. Jesus' Chuch has been divided. Why? Demons can be very subtle in their attacks against us. They can pervert anything, twisting truths and scriptures just slightly enough to throw us off the path of righteousness. “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3) We must watch out for demonic attacks, “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” (2 Corinthians 2:11)

The demons will constantly try to tempt and trick us into sin, and because we are weak and human they will sometimes succeed especially if we beLIEve we are immune! When they do, we must ask G-d’s forgiveness and for deliverence. We are not defenseless against demons; G-d has provided us with protection against them. “Put on the whole armor of G-d, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:11) While the armor of G-d protects us, we can fight against demons with the sword that is the Word of God. (Ephesians 6:17) Through knowledge (John 10:27) of the truth, we can defeat the lies of demons.

When we resist the lying spirits - they leave us alone. “Submit yourselves therefore to G-d. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7) Demons/spirits know that Jesus has already defeated them at the cross. “And they (the believers) overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” (Revelation 12:11)

Christians have the authority of Christ over demons. “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19) The demons are powerless against us unless we surrender to them out of fear, ignorance or lack of faith. When spirits of Babylon, temptation, deceit, prejudice, hate or any other demons attack us, we only have to call on Christ to defend us. In His name we have all authority over demons; they have to leave us alone when we demand it in the name of Jesus!

The denominational church basically teaches that Believers cannot be possessed by demons. It is interesting to note that the Great whore Babylon (and her harlot daughters) in Revelation have "become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird." Satan will not cast out Satan - a kingdom divided against itself can not stand. We are clearly warned in Revelation 18:4-5 "And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her (confusion/Babylon), my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and G-d hath remembered her iniquities."

The ancient Babylonians had many names for demon spirits including utukku ('spirit), Alu ('demon'), Lilu (a ghost, the feminine versions include Lilitu and Ardat Lili), and Gallu ('devil'). They believed that there were many evil spirits and they swarmed everywhere. According to Morris Jastrow's Religion of Babylonia and Assyria (PDF, p260ff), these demons lurked in remote or hidden places like graves, mountain tops and in the shadows of ruins. They would go out at night, enter homes through holes and crevices, and torture their victims. They were responsible for anything bad that happened from destructive winds, pestilent fevers, and disease to headaches, petty quarrels, hatred and jealousy.

During their period of Babylonian captivity, the Jews absorbed many Sumerian demons into their own folklore, and over time these were transmuted into uniquely Jewish demons, such as Lilith, the demon who strangles children in their cribs and visits solitary men in their beds to provoke nocturnal emissions. Lilith began her life as a class of Babylonian demon known as the lilitu. Later, she became the first wife of Adam but refused any obedience to G-d.

Obey G-d, resist the devil and once delivered - be filled with the Holy Spirit. For we are warned in Matthew 12:43-45: "When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation."

These truly are the last days and the demonic forces that would destroy/deceive us need to be dealt with!
